Vulturous Volcanoes

out of a sudden,
   we exploded,
you and I–
arms to the air
voices raised,
we blew up into the night

toxic,
we transformed
   into a pyroclastic cloud
eroding every surface
every minute and pound
  on the wall

volcanoes, we threw out rocks
to the air
incandescent tongues
irrevocable care;

no, lust, possession–
we mistook passion for love

and they crashed
hot rocks
on every breathing surface
leaving craters–
  holes
now to be filled,
to be whole
by water: loneliness
in two, shared–
attention to the self

we blew up:
   in a flamant cloud
burning grounds–
covering all, losing ourselves

sometimes,
I wake up to find ash
      standing still on my skin
